5 ways to Reduce Waste and Improve Your Article Portfolio

Waste are frustrating and costly concept.
As you await the results of your recently published articles in a week, a month, or even a year from now on, you are bound to wonder: “Will it really work??? Was it all a waste????”
Using article writing as a strategy to build credibility, exposure, traffic and authority is not a waste. However, there are a lots of wasteful tactics that many writers fall for.
do you have fallen for wasteful tactics? Find out how to reduce waste in your article writing efforts with these tips!
Waste #1: Fast execution without a goal or purpose.
If you’ve found yourself wishing you approached an article differently or forgot some key point because you carried out an article too early, then you may need to work on your strategies. Without strategies or planning, you risk doing something that may put you in a difficult situation or it may limit how you can proceed afterwards. Reduce waste by planning an editorial calendar to give your efforts direction and to more easily measure the performance of your articles.

Waste #2: Addiction to search engine optimization.
SEO is always a hot topic – one mention of it here on the blog and visitors hungrily flock to it for the details. Sure there will be quality SEO practices that may give your efforts really a boost, but the only practices you should pay attention to are natural SEO practices that promote quality material, relevance, originality, and transparency. Stop sacrificing value for “quick fix” strategies like keyword stuffing, over-optimizing youranchor text, and linking to irrelevant contents. Allow your creative content to lead you to success and reduce waste.
Waste #3: Poor social media planning.
Two social media mistakes many writers make: (1) Using every social media platform to reach their audience and (2) promoting instead of engaging readers. First, find and test what social platforms works for you – forget platforms where only 10% of your audience can be found out. Second, balance promoting your articles and products or services with content your readers want to engage and align themselves. There’s little value for broadcasting your message to an empty room.

Waste #4: Over-saturating a topic.
One of your articles excelled over all of the rests, so you decide to rewrite it for your next article – just enough so it’s not identical word-to-word. Not only this is unoriginal and derivative, this cheaps the success you have gained from your original article by telling readers and publishers you may not be the authority you claim or the trusted source they really desire. Avoid over-saturating a topic by approaching the topic from a different variety of angles. Need help? Apply your topic to our interactive article templates on PDF to increase your exposure and the volume of your article portfolio fast.
Waste #5: Stop creating microsites.
If you’re looking for the inbound links, they don’t create micro-sites. Micro-sites are those free-hosted websites that have very few content, little value, and often circular navigation. Unless you’re willing (or have the resources) to dedicate as much to the micro-site as you dedicate to your main sites, reduce waste by cutting micro-sites from your own efforts. Target your own efforts by creating a high-quality site that benefits visitors and readers, consider guest posting, and continue good publishing quality and original articles here on EzineArticles.com.
In addition to the 5 wasteful the strategies above, nothing beats the wastes for eliminating article writing because you don’t think it works or casting article writing aside after publishing X articles because the “job” is already done. Article writing works because it creates a vibrant lifeline between yourself and the reader – cutting that lifeline instead of adjusting your strategy will be a shameful wastes.
